In a foreign country poem

As happy as a dear
Germany is a place that I will never fear
Going to Germany sounds like fun
I might just go have me a hot cross bun
Now making new friends
We could all make new trends
So now that you know I'm excited
Even though I'm not from Germany, we will all be united.

Quote: "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."

English words:                                    German words:

Thank you                                           Danke
Do you speak english?                         Sprechen sie Englisch?
Goodbye                                            Auf Wiedersehen!

2016 Reflection

This year has been a great year with the yr 8's that are now moving onto college/high school. What I really enjoyed this year was fiafia and prize giving. As for the year 8's, it was fun hanging out with them but us yr 7's are making the most of it by spending most of our time with them. Farewell year 8's, we will miss you!!!

2016 is coming to an end and it's not long until us yr 7's are gonna move onto year 8's and the yr 8's will be leaving. Remembering all the times that you spent with your fiends that are leaving or that have left is always good. Here are some photo's with some of the yr 7/8's and me.

About Germany

Facts about Germany:
Germany was the first country in the world to adopt Daylight saving time (DST), also known as summer time. This occurred in 1916 in the midst of WWI and was put in place to conserve energy.

The capital of Berlin has more bridges than Venice – Berlin boasts 960 bridges and 59.8 square kilometers of water consisting of lakes and around 180 kilometers of navigable waterways. Combined with its surrounding state Brandenburg, it houses Europe's largest inland water network.

Prison escape is not punishable by law in Germany – German law maintains that it’s a basic human instinct to be free and therefore, prisoners have the right to escape jail. Escapes, however, rarely go unpunished because prisoners are held liable if they cause damage to property or inflict bodily harm against any individual upon their breakout.

Why do I want to visit Germany? I want to visit Germany just to learn about there celebrations, history of their country and their language. I also want to go to Germany because they have the amazing river cruise on the Rhine and Maine. Also the city of Berlin is a wonderful place to go to, and the city of Hamburg. There national sports are football (soccer), golf, ice hokey, basketball, motor sport, handball and lastly skiing.

The Brave Tongan's

WALT: - Write a story from a character

In the beautiful island of Tonga,  a teenager wanted to move to New Zealand and his name is Monty. Monty was strong, clever, energetic and generous and always wanted to join the New Zealand military. He loved a lot of sports that leaving his parents were hard for him but he dreamed of moving, so he did.

Monty the “Brave Tongan”  (that’s what his siblings and close one’s called him) had taken the 3 hours and 30 minute flight to New Zealand. A long journey had bored Monty and all he wanted to do was to take over and fly himself. “ Koe hā ē?” (What’s that) said Monty. As he kept on asking himself it was New Zealand airport. “Were landing,” spoke the pilot. “Please remain seated as it will be bumpy once we land, thank you.” Breathing in and out the fresh air of New Zealand, he had now said “Tau kamata.” (Let’s begin)

So his mission of becoming a marine. Monty studied so hard for at least 3 weeks and was yet to confident. He knew everything about becoming a marine (he started learning at the age of 4).  Becoming a marine would be hard work, so he trained himself and took advice from his great great grandpa before he past away (He was a marine a long time ago).

Having a rest, not eating and not drinking enough he was weakened but he did not give up until he couldn’t walk or talk. “K...keep go...ing” said Monty as his voice flowed with the chilling breeze.
Never giving up was like the definition of his name to him and his family.  The day came and it was time for him to begin real training at a civil war training base. “Line up you hopeless children,” shouted colonel Rick. “Today your training to become a marine a only 5 of you can, and there’s 30of you… kids.”  All men had screamed in pain except for one person, Monty.

Monty had kept the screaming under control and held all the pain that had spread throughout his body, just like a virus. The sun slowly set and everyone a only taken a 3 hour break and during that break was mostly eating and sleeping. As the sun rise and the roosters had woken up everyone, Monty was the only one who never rest and kept on challenging himself.

Later on the day, colonel Rick was just about to announce the people that had made it and it wasn’t even a week yet. “Attention all trainers,” said colonel Rick on the speaker. “The people that have made it through are… Derek, John, Bill, joseph and Monty.” As proud as he could ever be, Monty was glad that he had become a marine and so he spread the news to his whanau (fâmili).

Now a marine had changed his life forever and he never gave up on all the vigorous training that he had went through. “Now a marine always a marine” was the saying that had been passed down in his generation.

Rainbows end

This term the year 7's and I had went to Rainbows End as it was the best trip yet. Some of us had to research and write down something about our favorite rides. It was horrifying but awesome for all of us at the same time. Have you been to Rainbows End? What is it like? How did you feel? Enjoy my post.

How to solve a algebra equation

   Simplifying
                             x + -6= 9

                      Reorder the terms:
                            -6 + x = 9

                              Solving
                             -6 + x = 9

                      Solving for variable 'x'.
Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

Add '6' to each side of the equation.
                          -6 + 6 + x = 9 + 6

                  Combine like terms: -6 + 6 = 0
                         0 + x = 9 + 6
                           x = 9 + 6

                 Combine like terms: 9 + 6 = 15
                                x = 15

                             Simplifying
                                 x = 15

                  Answer would be: x - 6 = 9

Scientists
Advertisers
Experiments
Sell products
Systematic activity

Write 3 sentences explaining something new you’ve learned from this reading.

-That a lot of company’s lie when they make ads, only to make there company greater.

-The surest way to spot a fake is to first test or research about that product/thing to see if what it says on it is true.

-I have learnt that Pseudoscience is anybody alleged knowledge, methodology and belief that claims to be scientific but does not fit with the possibility of science. Also the word “Pseudo” from Pseudoscience means “FAKE”

Understanding improper and mixed fractions

WALT: understand improper and mixed fractions.

Pentagons maths group and I have been trying to understand improper and mixed fractions. We had to highlight the best answer. As part of Mrs Nua  and Mrs Ilaoa maths group, we k now that we have to read all answers if it is a option one. Why? because if you pick the first answer you see then it could be wrong, that's why it's has optional answers.

Algebra- How to solve an Algebra eqaution

This is how to solve an algebra equation. To solve linear equations, you add, subtract, multiply and divide both sides of the equation by numbers and variables, so that you end up with a single variable on one side and a single number on the other side.

Trying to improve in math whizz

This is my maths whizz improvement. It's only the 3rd day of term 4, so that's why my progress isn't as high as I should be. So you can see my maths age improvement, my average weekly usage (minutes) and some other info about myself on math whizz. What I am trying to do is to hopefully improve much more than what I have here.

Big B-day party

Yesterday my whole family, my little nephew Romeo and I went to my 2 cousins Terrell, Elijah and Izabelle my little sister's b-day. It was so packed in the huge shed, where we were going to have the birthday in. We couldn't even get around because it was so full of family members and friends.Anyway, so as the adults prepare all the stuff we need like 3 cakes, cook island donuts, fairy bread, chips, hot chips, boil up, bbq, pizza, fizzy, cupcakes, sausages, salad and lots more. So while the adults did that, Anania, Romeo, myself and all the rest of the kids, we played pass the pastle, we had a lollie scramble and "hidden lollie". In hidden lollie we had to try and find as many lollies as we can, thanks to my friend Pare she hid them. After 2 hours it was time to sit down while my brothers friend Tere, his dad had said a prayer, then we would sing happy birthday to Terrell, Elijah and Izabelle and last we said grace. When we sang happy birthday to the 3 birthday kids, Izabelle refused to go up and blow the candles out of her cake, so Romeo and myself blew the candle out. We had a great time there. The best b-day ever.

Metal detecting

2 days ago my brother Anania and I went out metal detecting. We were really in search of coins and badges and lots more. We were outside near the creek at the back of my house. We metal detect for an hour and a half. " Look at what I found!" exclaimed Anania. I quickly rushed over and he found a WW1 badge but didn't know what country it was from. My first find of the day was a Welch Regiment badge and a Australian 10c coin. As we dug and dug and dug to see what we could find Anania and I found three little monkey statues, and we researched it up online and found out it was the three wise monkeys that comes from Japan and China. The meaning of the three wise monkeys were See no evil. They on that covers its eyes means, See no evil, the one that covers its ears means hear no evil and that one that covers it's mouth means speak no evil. After it had hit 10:30am we left and came back home. We were exhausted from digging as the mud was solid. Here are all of our things we found. Hope you enjoy this and try it out someday yourself.

Saving someones life

On an earlier Wednesday morning, my cousin Jesse and I took a walk down to P.E beach. We were just relaxing for a couple of hours. Once it hit the late afternoon Jesse and I were making our way back as it started to trickle. Trickling for abit and then BANG! it started pouring down and we ran for our lives under shelter, near the toilets. Jesse had heard someone screaming " Help, Help." We looked every where and we couldn't find anything, until we came up near the water. A little boy was out far sea, slowly floating away. I had no choice but to run and rescue him. It was a risky situation, but it was the right thing to do. I jumped forward diving deep down. It wasn't too late until he had really floated out to sea. I swam and swam until the currents of the sea had forced me to go back, but no helping the little boy was my number one priority. He was scared and gave up swimming, then I grabbed his arm and pulled him towards land. Cpr was needed and the little boy was fine and doing well. Jesse and I took him to the police station as he didn't know where he lived or where his parents have gone.

So that's my true story. I hope you enjoyed reading it and see if can imagine. Anyway it was frightening for me. Enjoy.

Wheoritia Te atawhai Making Kindness go viral

Today my brother and I went out on our bikes. We were soaking wet from the rain, that we were just on our way home. So close from entering our street we had saw a homeless man, with nothing to shelter him from the rain. My brother did not see him anywhere, so what I did was told him to stop while I go check up on the homeless man. Heart broken in the rain, and all alone. I had extra clothes and spear food in my bag, and so I gave it to the homeless man and he told me his name and why he'd been roaming the streets homeless and alone. I was teared up a bit and blessed him and told him i'd find a place for him to stay. I asked my aunty if he could stay at her house for a couple of weeks until he was ready again to start a new life. He was happy and crying with tears of joy. Later on he had found the right apartment for him and he was doing good. So we wished him a good future and prayed for him.

So that was my story of Making kindness go viral. If you help someone i need then they will help you.

Homework in the holidays

There was this guy named Tim Peake and he went on a 6 month (186 days)  journey into space.
He went with two other members. They were 3,000 orbits from Earth. Tim Peake made history and represented Britain by living on the international space station. Tim and his crew members landed safely in Kazakhstan.
The other two members were Yuri Malenchenko from Russia and Tim Kopra from the US
Tim peake said “ It will take me two or three days for me to adapt, since i have been living on the international space station for 6 months.
Tim peake was the second person to live on a space station after Helen Sharman in 1991.

Henan province has been badly hit too, with 72,000 people evacuated. There have been power cuts and major problems with the communications and transport networks across world wide.
It has estimated that more than 1.5 million hectares of crops have been badly damaged and said direct economic losses exceed to $3bn.

I've been reading about things that are recently going on around the world. So here is some info about worldwide things. The lines are were it ends and a next story is waiting for you to read. Enjoy

Whats Going On?

Today Holidays have started and it's time to help my mum. As a contribution to mum for hard working and raising me and taking care of me is now doing every single job she does.  So I will do the dishes, rooms, mow the lawn, mop the floor, clean the bathroom, pick up my clothes and other and finally help carry shopping for her. In the holidays I am also going to make kindness go viral by: helping someone with their shopping, helping the poor by buying them something or doing something nice for them. What everyone needs to do is share the love, make kindness go viral and you can do this by doing something nice for someone. "Is it Kind, is it True, it is Necessary." Day 1

It has only been 1 day of our school holidays and so far it's pretty awesome to have a break from school work. It's great now that I'm helping my mum with the house cleaning. I am doing dishes, lawn mowing, bathroom cleaning and making breakfast for my mum in bed. Since my brothers go out all the time and my sisters don't live with me anymore i suggested to stay with my mum and not go out with my friends. Also today i made a homeless person feel loved by giving him a drink, some food and some money with clothing. He had a smile and helped a person next to him that I didn't have enough things to give him. Share the love and be kind. Happy holidays. Enjoy the days and have good memories. Treasure it.

First day of the holidays

What a blast it was yesterday. Our very first day of the holidays starts now. My mum, my brother Anania, my sister Izabelle and myself are gonna go out shopping today, in the afternoon. We are going to buy alot of food because my sister Izabelle's birthdays next week and so we are just buying everything we need so it's ready. In this wintry cold I had put so much blankets on me in the morning and there was no change. Well anyway I hope everyone will enjoy the holidays. Oh and Happy 6th Birthday SIS
Have a great b-day sis.
Love from your sis danielle

Kick start to the last day of term 3

Wow it's the last day of term 3, what a surprise. So sad it has almost come to and end of 2016 as the year 8's will be heading off to college. Today was pretty awesome because we got to play games in the hall with Ms Va'afusuaga, room 3, room 5 and myself. Helping out other teachers preparing for home time was great.Temauri, Collin, Tevita, Yvonne, a couple of others and I had stepped up and helped. The cool thing today was loud shirt day and wheels day. Pt England and I had done this because we were raising money for people that had hearing problems, and so all the money would go towards them. We also had a disco yesterday night, and what a BLAST that was. With 60+ of attendance, we raised up to $537.
Anyway HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY, SEE YOU IN TERM 4.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Term 3 Reflection

It’s coming to an end of term 3 and near to the holidays. Soon us year 7’s will be the leaders of the school next year, and only 1 more term to go. My reflection about his year or term is that I liked to hang out with my friends playing basketball, soccer, cricket, handball and lots more. I also got the opportunity to play in the boys soccer team against Saint Kentigerns school.

I have memories that are held with me forever. Well some of them are just being me and having fun with my friends at school, and hopefully today. Another is building people up when they had felt alone. I really liked having fun learning with all the great teachers like Matua Lewin, mrs Tele’a, miss Clark, miss Berry, miss Nua, mrs Wiseman and last but not least my favorite teacher that had to leave for maternity leave mrs Ilaoa.

This term my literacy class, a couple of other people and I went on a trip to the movies in Sylvia park. All thanks to mr Wiseman for organizing this trip to go and watch the BFG movie. There had been a lot of sport this term with basketball, netball, soccer and rugby. Our school had preforms travel from America (USA) and also form TC. (Tamaki College).

My funny moments at school was how Mubashshir had bent down and ripped his shorts... (LOL). Another funny moment was how Hendrix, Mubashshir, Isaac lam sam, Lomio, Flynlay, Angelo, Zack and myself were playing soccer, and then Mubashshir had tripped up and pretended to cry. When my friends and I were playing basketball and Mubashshir had laughed too much at Hendrix when he had missed his shot Mubashshir had let out a fart and was embarrassed (LMAO).

My goals for next term is committing to all my learning no matter what I have to do I just want to have good results in my learning. I also want to learn more about maths because maths is my number one priority to me in learning. Being the smartest doesn't really matter it’s about thinking about what you're doing first, not just rushing whatever you gotta do in life. I also say that our school is so lucky to have a lot of interesting stuff going on and also  having a lot of technology like chromebooks, laptops, imacs, ipads and tablets. My learning is more important than games and free time, because if you don’t learn it won’t be good for you, your brain and your education.

Sadly we only have today, Wednesday, Thursday and half of Friday left until the holidays. Next term will be the last term for the year 8s as they are growing and now moving into high school. So us year 7’s our moving on to year 8 and that will be our last year as for the new year 7s come in from the the year 5&6 block. Being smart or strong really doesn’t matter it’s whether you're try.

Magnus the Magnificent

Magnus the Magnificent
A thousand years ago ago, there was Magnus the magnificent. He lived far away in a deserted village all the way in Egypt. Magnus was invincible with bright glowing armour, long straight curly hair. His tribe would always think he was good until the day he found a gem. From that very moment he would force everyone to mine for gems, and if they disobeyed him, Magnus would wip them with a golden lasso. So on there was unstoppable mining throughout the.

Problem:
In the deserts of Egypt, Magnus was furious about  . His problem was that he wasn’t getting enough gems, loyalty and respect. All he could see was men violating all the rules, children become thieves and women would not mine. When Magnus would shout out “ Bow down before your greatest ruler, Magnus the magnificent.” No one listened to him. So what did Magnus do…  he prayed.
Magnus prayed and prayed begging for help and advice on how to make his people obey him. So as the sun sets and the shine of the full moon covering the land of Egypt. Magnus heard a whisper echoing through his house. He woke up in shock banging his head on a pole above him and falling straight off his bed of hay.

“Magnus my boy do you know who I am, Magnus.” Magnus almost had a heart attack and replied “ No sir who are you, show yourself.” “ I am your father, I am the world's creator.” “Okay...” whispered Magnus, not giving a care about who he is. “ My boy I have come down to bless you, to help you with all the devastating tragedy that’s happening in your village.” “ What shall I do,” replied Magnus. “They are disobeying me in every way.” So Magnus marched down the chilli hallway. Marching and marching as if he was a soldier. “ My boy,” said the mysterious man with a heavenly voice. “What you need to do is to take it easy on them, don’t treat them as your slaves and make sure you always have a positive attitude towards them.”

The mysterious man had faded and perished into thin air. So magnus had took his advice and used it the next day. “Everyone,” screamed Magnus with a slight chance of losing his voice. “ Everyone, I know i’ve been harsh on you but it’s gonna change.” “Yeah like that’s ever gonna happen.” replied with such anger in his tone of voice. Magnus was furious of such weak folk answering back, but he had to stay put and change. “I’m changing, from now on no more mining, no more slavery and all families are free to be.”

All of the villagers were so peaceful that all they did was relax and have massages. So everyone was all in peace and now Magnus was so selfish and notice that everyone was disobedient before, it was now rested in the grounds.

My Maths Goals

My maths goal this year is algebra, fraction and ratios. What i'm really focusing on is my fractions mainly. Why?..... because whenever i have a test or have a equation I have to solve, I get myself confused by thinking too far into the problem when I should just stick with one main solution. So that's why I am mainly picking my fractions. Algebra and ratios are alot harder than fractions but I am starting to get the hang of it. It gets a bit tricky when it has multiple tasks in one question.... really.

Algebra Year 7 quiz

This picture right here is a picture showing a algebra question and answer.
If you can see there is a hint button, and when you press that you get help if you are stuck on a algebra or any other question.
So what you have to do is to solve out the algebra maths problem and think of it in your head or write it down in a book. If you are stuck go on ahead and press the hint button but before doing that keep trying and think harder. Here is a example: Equation- X + 5 = 15.... So what you have to do is if you add 5
my number you get 15. What is my number?
the answer is 10 because 10 + 5 = 15.
Another one is: Equation- X - 13 = 13..... So you have to subtract 13 from my number you get 13. What is my number?  The answer is X = 26 because if you go 26 - 13 = 13 then you get 13. It's all confusing at the start, but you will get the hang of it sooner or later. To try it out for yourself just click here and you can go and test yourself.

Soccer Football game

Our soccer football game, what a start. Pt England's very own soccer team had played against Saint Kentigern Pakuranga school. I was the only girl in our soccer football team. Our game started at 1:30pm at lunch time and the people in the team were Benjamin, Josh, John Lee, David, Zane, Stevenson, Zack, Lorenzo, Hendrix and myself as well and also our coach Matua Lewin.

Matua Lewin was the ref for our game. There were 11 on the field and 2 sub. *Whistle* and the game starts. We start off and so we spread out, "1,2" shouts Zane. He passes it to Lorenzo and Lorenzo is targeted by one of the Saint Kentigern's team mate. He passes back to Zane but then Zane lost the ball. Chris is part of Saint Kentigern's team. He has the ball and John lee is goalie, and John lee needs to focus on the ball.

*Kick* Chris kicks the ball into their goal and so they get a point. John Lee had bad luck this time so he swapped with Hendrix and so he became goalie. It was already half time so Matua Lewin our coach had to get us more focused into the game. We had a drink of water and had to calm ourselves down and *Whistle* the whistle blows and the second round begins.

We had no strategy and had forgot to plan one, but anyway we tried our best. Saint Kentigerns had got 2 penalty kicks. After running around, doing soccer tricks, defending and being goalie we had lost by 3 points. It was a good game after all and so we did our chants and shaked hands after our chants. Saint Kentigerns Pakuranga school was a great team to compete against

Cross Country

WALT: show not tell.
The day has come our school cross country. My body was quivering and my head heating up as if it was going to burst into flames. I breathe in and out trying to calm myself down.
I felt like I was going to melt as my legs were not powerful enough to hold myself up.

At the start line I am ready in my position to run. I feel like a panther ready to attack my prey and the others are too. “ Clap” and were off. We run and run as if our prey as gotten away. The other girls run like they are having a race to have each other's territory.

How our muscles work

You are probably thinking now how our muscles need to work, what makes them function. Your journey starts here. Read on for more about “How our MUSCLES work.”

The way our muscles work is that our Tendons are cords made of tough tissue, they work as special connector pieces between bone and muscle. The tendons are attached so well that when you contract one of your muscles, the tendon and bone move along with it. Skeletal muscles come in many different sizes and shapes to allow them to do many types of jobs.

Did you know you have more than 600 muscles in your body? They do everything from pumping blood throughout your body to helping you lift your heavy backpack. You control some of your muscles, while others like your heart do their jobs without you thinking about them at all.
The strong and prolonged contraction of a muscle during exercise causes sooner or later muscle fatigue. Fatigue increases while the glycogen stored in the muscles decreases. Muscle fatigue is something you get often when you exercise.
So that is how our muscles work and what it takes and needs to function. Click here to check out more information about how our muscles work

Return of Saia and Gabriel

The return of Saia and Gabriel was great, they talked about their highlights in Silicon valley. They had traveled to all of the different app company in the United states of America (USA). Google, Twitter, Xero, Facebook, Apple, Stanford Uni, Book track, Yelp, Android and a lot more. Gabriel and Saia had also went to the worlds most famous and secured prison in the world, Alcatraz. Alcatraz had have 3 prisoners escape and had to be shut down. Gabriel told team 5 and I about their experience at all the different companies and what they did.

They also did a bean boozled challenge and that was Gabriel's funniest part. Saia's funniest part was when they were on the bus and the boys were just singing and talking. Some of their proud moments were representing our country at each company and being able to speak in front of famous company founders.

They shared their favorite part about their trip and how they felt. They were two lucky college students to attend this amazing trip to Silicon valley. They told us " We had the chance to go on this dream trip and so could you in 3 years time. " just believe and you could be us in this position some time.

Gabriel and Saia inspired us and told us there goals and it should be ours. They also went on the golden gate bridge, to Instagram, Microsoft and kiwi landing pad.  It was coming to an end of Saia's and Gabriel's talk, we had the chance to ask them any question about the journey. They were motivating us. Gabriel is a former Pt England student and Saia is a former Glenn brae student. It was an all expenses paid trip so that means that it was a free trip.

Most of team 5 and I would like to go on a trip to Silicon valley. Gabriel said "you never know when you might get the chance to have something like this." That speech right there brought us all to thinking about us and imagining a picture of ourselves on a trip like that. Here are some photos of them talking.

This is some info about there prisoners who escaped. Investigators concluded that John Anglin , Clarence Anglin and Frank Morris died trying to make their way across San Francisco Bay in a raft made out of raincoats, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Clint Eastwood played the mastermind Morris in the 1979 film about their quest, “Escape from Alcatraz.”
